The female flowers of the hop plant are, of course, the primary ingredient used to brew beer, which give hop water’s buzzed but beloved uncle its distinctive bitterness and aroma while also serving as a preservative. Hop water is essentially carbonated water that’s flavored and crafted with hop plants. What is it? When was it first made? To quench your thirst for new knowledge, let’s first dive into what makes hop water unique. One of the many new trends to jump into the beverage market is hop water. From seltzers to enhanced water, the industry continues to find ways to reinvent the refreshing experience of drinking water. You can buy Hoplark Sparkling Water from Amazon within the United States, or from major supermarkets like Whole Foods.Through the years, bottled and canned sparkling water has evolved and gone through many different trends. On top of that, it’s ultra-refreshing and perfect for an end-of-day wind-down drink because it contains zero caffeine. I would pick this over a non-alcoholic IPA any day. The flavor is intense without being overwhelming and it has all the things I love about a nice, bitter IPA without any of the alcohol or calories. I’ve tried a number of hop seltzers in the past few months including Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher ( read my review) and Sierra Nevada Hop Splash ( read my review) and none of them comes close to what Hoplark has created with its sparkling waters. Verdict – Is Hoplark Sparkling Water Worth It? The tartness of the citrus is there but without the lip-smacking effect. For example, it doesn’t taste like a lemon or lime seltzer. I wouldn’t say the citrus flavors are strong. Like seriously–what kind of sorcery is this? It’s crisp, refreshing, and has the bite of an IPA without any alcohol or calories. This is hands down my favorite hop seltzer so far, next to my other favorite HOP WTR. There are also notes of citrus (sweet lemon), as you would expect for something made with Citra hops. My guess is that it’s fairly clear with medium carbonation, as you would expect from any other seltzer. In addition to the simple ingredients, the total lack of calories and sugar makes this drink almost too good to be true.Ĭonfession–I’ve drunk this sparkling water so many times but I’ve never poured it into a glass so I have no idea what it looks like (facepalm). There are 0 calories, 0g of sugar, 0g of carbohydrates, and 0g of fat in Hoplark’s Sparkling Water. Hoplark’s Citra sparkling water contains only carbonated water and Citra hops.Īs someone who enjoys unique flavors but hates additives, this drink’s simple ingredients are absolutely perfect. In addition to the Citra flavor, Hoplark makes Mosaic and Sabro sparkling waters. Riding the initial wave of success from their five core HopTeas, the team released hoppy seltzers in 2021. We’ve previously reviewed each of the HopTeas, check out the individual reviews here: The Green Tea One, The Really Hoppy One, The Calm One, and The Mile-High-Biscus One. The result is an entirely new category of alcohol-free drinks–not a seltzer, not a beer, but rather a hop-infused tea. These drinks combine tea, hops, and carbonated water, which are then brewed like beer. Wanting to give non-drinkers and the sober-curious more interesting non-alcoholic drinks, they came out with HopTeas. The pair had the habit of bonding over pints of craft beer but had to find a replacement when Dean decided to complete an alcohol-free month. Hoplark was founded in 2018 by two friends: Dean Eberhardt and Andrew Markley. The flavor profile is citrus-y, well-balanced, and similar to a hoppy beer, albeit with a lighter body and zero malt taste.Ĭompared to the brand’s HopTeas, the sparkling waters have simpler flavors and are much more crushable. It’s hoppy enough that you know what you’re drinking, but not so hoppy that you’re overwhelmed by the bitterness. On Hoplark’s hoppiness rating, the Citra hop seltzer ranks right in the middle. What’s more, it’s caffeine-free, meaning you can grab a can no matter what time it is. As a result, it contains 0 calories, 0g of fat, and 0 sugar. Hoplark Sparkling Water is a refreshing hop-infused seltzer made with just two ingredients: carbonated water and Citra hops. Gluten-free, vegan, and Whole30 approved.Contains 0mg of caffeine, 0 calories, and 0g of sugar. To find out if I’d buy them again, see my full Hoplark Sparkling Water review. That’s why I was so excited to discover Hoplark’s line of hop seltzers. But even though it’s my favorite drink, sometimes I get bored of my usual La Croix. If I could drink just one thing all day, it would probably be non-alcoholic seltzer.
